Excellent! I'm a little jealous--there's no way I could write something so interesting. Where did you get the ideas for this? I love it. Please send me more when you have it written.

I disagree with Slate; The Hunger Games is not predicated on climate change. Perhaps climate change is mentioned once in the trilogy, but it is not a central part of the plot or setting. Rather, The Hunger Games trilogy is predicated on the effects of a totalitarian state, and how a teenager overcomes oppression.

Keep writing and keep sharing!

Hi Avery, I love that you're writing and I hope you continue. I like how you end with a question; it really piques my interest to find out why she is fainting. The narrator has told us a lot. I am excited for when she starts showing us the character in action and talking to other people. I like that your heroine seems to have a lot of strong personality!

Your initial question reminds me of the part in Anne of Avonlea where Anne is writing stories and not having much luck getting them published. Anne's best friend Diana enters Anne's story in a competition sponsored by the Rollings Reliable Baking Powder Company. She has to insert a couple parts that sound like commercials (product placement) for the baking powder, but Anne wins the competition. Sadly, Anne doesn't appreciate this; instead she sees it as a betrayal of her poor story.

Then I also read an interesting article this morning about how so many YA dystopian novels, like The Hunger Games, are predicated on climate change.

I think it would be a fun challenge to write a fiction story that somehow mentioned water conservation.

Good to hear from you. I saw your mom's post about your science fair project. Hannah and I read Mistborn (the first book only) together, and we loved it. Have you read all 3 books? Do you identify with Vin? Which book is your favorite? Have you read Elantris? I really liked that one too. Hannah and I are working on The Well of Ascension, but it's taking time.
What else is new? Are you still swimming?
BTW, you must be growing like a week since the last time we saw you!
